A transom jack plate or lift plate is designed to raise or lower an outboard motor vertically at the transom. It can help to improve fuel economy, increase maximum speed on the water, reduce propeller draft and help a boat onto the plane faster. Jack plates are installed between transom and engine. Jack plates can be hydraulically operated or manually operated. Hydraulic jack plates are also specified when it is necessary to get a boat on the plane in shallow waters.
