Ambex gSense is a shock and impact monitoring system that provides a realtime display of the G loadings onboard a vessel. Using 3-dimensional accelerometer technology gSense provides information that enables the boat driver to adjust boat handling or speed to stay within agreed parameters for the safety of boat, crew and passengers. Typical applications for the gSense monitoring system include military craft, commercial vessels, high performance craft and crew transfer vessels.
The gSense system also records the G readings experienced by the vessel for replay purposes. This enables operators ashore to monitor how the vessel has been used, including an indication of vibration exposure to the crew and passengers. For human factors monitoring the ‘traffic light’ warning output can be linked to vibration values specified by the EC Vibration Directive. Amber lights are displayed when the level exceeds the Exposure Action Value (EAV) and red lights are displayed when the Exposure Limit Value (ELV) is exceeded.
The system is also suitable for use in assessing the seakeeping characteristics of vessels in a given sea state. This can be part of the procurement process for new craft or to measure the suitability of in-service vessels for use in different sea states. Long-term impact monitoring can also improve vessel reliability, reduce vessel down time and assist planning for pre-emptive structural repairs.
Ambex gSense triple axis sensing provides a GPS and machinery data interface that can be used in combination with commercial off the shelf (COTS) equipment or bespoke systems. The single unit, housing sensors and display, is waterproof to IP66 and NVG (NVIS) compatible with MIL-STD-3009. Features include flash card memory, 400Hz recording and user configurable display.
