Norsafe Rescue Boats have excellent reliability, manoeuvrability and seakeeping abilities in order to fulfil their prime function - to provide an effective means of search and recovery for persons missing at sea. Design and construction fulfil the need for reliable, low maintenance standby and operation. When installed with an approved davit, the boat fulfils the requirements for fast rescue boats on offshore installations and standby vessels, and is fully compliant with requirements for Ro-Ro ships.

The layout and performance of the boats allows them to perform other roles including, dive support, inspection, survey and work boat duties.
Norsafe Rescue Boats have a low freeboard to facilitate rescue operations. The craft are self-bailing, have ample deck space, a self-righting system, a sturdy foam-filled fender and are supplied with a diesel inboard motor with water jet propulsion or outboard petrol or diesel engines. The specially developed Norsafe davit, with shock absorbers and tension system for severe weather, allows rescue boats to be launched from a mother ship even in heavy seas.
In accordance with IMO regulations, all RO-RO Pax vessels must have fast rescue boats with a minimum length of 6 metres and a top speed of at least 20 knots. Norsafe have boats which fully comply with these requirements and all equipment has been approved in accordance with SOLAS 1983/96 and the EC Marine Equipment Directive.
